Return to New York

Several weeks ago, John realized he had several days off with the start of his fall schedule over the Labor Day weekend, and he had the idea to go back to New York. We both had lived there for several years and that's where we met, so we were eager to return together. We booked our tickets two weeks before and stayed at the Millennium Hilton, downtown in the Financial District of Manhattan. Being close to the World Trade Center we saw the 9/11 Memorial as well as the new Calatrava-designed transit center called the Oculus. Calatrava also designed the Milwaukee Art Museum.

While in the city, John and I were able to meet-up with a bunch of friends, eat lots of good food, saw a Korean zombie film at the IFC, and we also were able to visit many places where we used to hangout, including Grand Central Station (where we got engaged). We visited our old neighborhood in Bushwick, Brooklyn, as well as Governors Island. Now I can finally say I've been to all five New York boroughs since John briefly toured me around Staten Island.

We had a wonderful time visiting and we definitely hope to return sometime soon. It's a very special place, unlike any other in the entire world. Additionally, the people we know and met there make it extra special and important to us.
