Ann Hamilton

I absolutely loved Ann Hamilton's exhibition "the event of a thread", at the Park Avenue Amory.  The show closed January 6, but lucky for you, I've included several of my personal photos and a video that I recorded.

I first learned about Hamilton through this show, which I will be referencing a lot on my blog. 

Hamilton selectively develops materials, text, and ideas for her visual language in a distinctive manner.  Her understanding of space, especially at the Amory, shows her awareness to physical relationships with large spaces.

The large white curtain she made for the Amory space was connected to strategically placed pulleys that swayed the entire piece of cloth.  Swings for people swung to-and-forth relationally to the curtain.
