Portland Gets Baked
It's no secret that Portland has a pretty substantial love and appreciation for baked goods (beyond the infamous Voodoo Doughnuts). Since John and I moved to the city we've taken several trips to local bakeries to see what local fare has to offer. Below are some scrumptious treats that we have tried, some were betters than others, and some have left an indelible mark into my gluten-lusting psyche. I highly recommend Blue Star Donuts, which overall has a great texture for a donut, great atmosphere, and wonderful usage of fresh ingredients. At the bottom of this entry is Two Tarts, which we finally tried before it's closing, which will be this Christmas. I look forward to venturing to try more bakeries and other goodies around the city.
