Googamooga

The Great Googamooga is a food festival that showcases some of New York's top rated food vendors and it happens in the heart of Prospect Park in Brooklyn.  Last year, the event bombed publicity-wise (I sadly didn't even get a ticket).  Apparently, the main points of demise included extremely bad cell phone service, long lines, and limited food supply.  This year the event was extended from one to three days, but rain canceled the final day of the foodfest.  I was lucky enough to snatch a ticket from a former co-worker, a free ticket, from a limited supply.

Given the opportunity to attend Saturday, I set my expectations extremely low and wasn't planning to stay too long.  The only long line I faced was the confusing entrance line.  Setup Whole Foods style, mini lines were allotted from a longer line, mostly of people who didn't figure out they could've stepped down.

Most entrees averaged about $10, but there were small treats, like bacon on skewers, and French macarons that were affordable enough.  I had a delicious fried chicken bun with chili milk from Baohaus, grabbed an expensive diet coke ($4-eek!), two French macarons for $4, and finally a pulled pork sandwich that was okay, but nothing really worth mentioning.

To really enjoy the festival it was pretty obvious that good money was needed to get a full sense of the food selections.  I feel like the only advantage of having a food festival like this is that the vendors are close in physical proximity, rather than spending many date nights individually trying out each place.

Overall, despite the hype and the light drizzle, it was a yummy experience.  I guess if I ever decided to go again, if I'm even lucky or aggressive enough to get a ticket (an online lottery happens sometime in early spring), I'd have to save up, and take a friend next time.
