Lizard Mound County Park

Over Father's Day weekend John and I were with family up in Wisconsin and we were able to tour Lizard Mound County Park. The park consisted of a series of ancient burial and ceremonial mounds built by indigenous Native American peoples. Configured in polymorphous creatures such as turtles, panthers, and water spirits. The mounds were impressive for their size and they spanned out from an open field into a wooded forest. Our visit first began at a newly constructed visitor's pavilion that had informative and interactive signs and audio recordings. Ann, my mother-in-law, is really good at spotting four-leaf clovers and with her help we found a whole patch along the path we took. We had a great time visiting the mounds and I would definitely recommend it if you are in Washington County Wisconsin.
